Roger Lloyd-Pack announced as Rural Theatre Festival patron
Start time:
14th August 14:50
Finish time:
14th August 23:55
Venue:
Swanton Morley Village Hall
Description:
Organisers have announced that Roger Lloyd Pack, a familiar face as Trigger in the TV classic ?Only Fools and Horses?, is to be the patron of the first ?Breckland Rural Theatre Festival?. Roger is also well known for his role as Owen Newitt in the more recent TV series ?Vicar of Dibley?, whilst youngsters will recognise him as Barty Crouch Senior in the film ?Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?.
The Theatre Festival, organised by Breckland Council in partnership with Creative Arts East?s Village Stage project, runs during July and August and will present four high quality productions in seven venues throughout Breckland; these include puppetry and theatre shows for younger audiences and larger shows for family audiences. Roger will perform in the Wonderful Beast Theatre Company?s acclaimed production of ?Yes ? the Adrian Mitchell Cabaret?, which is to be staged at Swanton Morley Village Hall on 14th August.
Using the formula that proved so successful with the ?Breckland Film Festival? project, the Council recruited local voluntary Theatre Promoters earlier this year, who are organising and preparing the venues and selling tickets. As part of the project, these groups and individuals have received training covering topics such as how to promote arts events to community audiences, health and safety and suitability of premises. Breckland Council is funding the festival and 50% of box office takings will go back to the groups. Leaflets with details of the shows will be available in libraries and in Town and Breckland Council offices from Friday 18th June, as well as in each of the villages and towns where the shows will take place. Details can also be found in the July/August edition of Breckland Voice and on the Breckland Council website.
Breckland Council Executive Member for Communities and Benefits, Adrian Stasiak, said ?
?Thanks to the efforts of these local organisers, this summer many of our residents will be able to enjoy live theatre on their doorstep. Breckland has provided support by producing literature and publicising the Festival. We hope that organisers will be inspired to book more live productions in
the future, and the intention is that they will raise funds through ticket sales, raffles and refreshments to cover this. I am sure that all seven performances will be playing to full houses?.
For more information please contact Sam Dawson on 01362 656 870 or email sam.dawson@breckland.gov.uk

Synopsis
Be entertained with a sharp-witted, highly amusing comedy which is perfect for Summer viewing.
Onstage a classic British comedy is in full swing, the marriage of Rupert and Sarah is on the rocks and their lawyer friends, Charles and Madge agree to handle the divorce. After the play has been running for a few minutes, Rupert forgets his lines, has a brain storm and threatens to kill Charles in full view of the audience. The rest of the cast try to ignore the incident and forge ahead with the original play with hilarious results. A real life marital comedy now evolves. In a similar vein to \'Noises off\', this ?play within a play? is a light hearted tilt at the complete theatricality of stage folk.
